Street View

One memory I want to be sure to keep (thus I am blogging about it) is the experience of walking through Paris.  This is a fun city to explore.

There are bakeries everywhere.

I walk by this place every morning.  I am told I may not purchase a Vespa to take home.  It appears I spent all of my souvenir money on a cuckoo clock.

There are also old churches everywhere. I suspect a lot of them were built before our country was even formed.

The Pompadou Center is on our way to the office, which is exciting since I remember it from art history.

This is next to our hotel.  I am not sure what the sign says, but I suspect it is indicating that the holy grail is buried behind that wall.  People really shouldn't park their bikes in front of the holy grail.

I love this graffiti on our street.

Our hotel.

The view from our office window...another old church.

The churches are so interesting to me.  I read that 50% of French citizens consider themselves agnostic or atheist.  The churches remain relatively unused, relics of their past faith and culture.

In other news, I tried foie gras tonight (goose liver). The waiter brought it out on a bed of linguine and mixed it all together with a fork.  The meat was so tender and buttery, just stirring it turned it into pasta sauce.  It certainly was interesting, but not my favorite.  In order to be considered true foie gras, the French government requires that it comes from a goose that is force fed huge amounts of corn.  This place is a little crazy...part of its charm.

  1. You should get the Vespa. Don't the boys have a plan for a scooter gang?
